Meet our next Student of the Month, Glenn Boogaerts! The likeable health care enthusiast from Belgium won over the hearts of both the staff and clients at Burrows House care home in London. He was offered a permanent job not once but twice during his internship there and it is only because Glenn still needs to finish his education back in Belgium that in the end he couldn’t stay on permanently. But what a flattering offer! When speaking to colleagues from his work placement and ADC College he was described as a real people-person with a positive can-do attitude. Read on for detailed quotes and Glenn’s personal letter about his experience:
Hi, my name is Glenn and I'm 21 years old!
I'm originally from Belgium were I study health care. The reason why I chose health care is because my passion is helping people. ADC College gave me the opportunity to work at Burrows House care homes and it was amazing! I made a lot of friends and got a job offer not once but twice!
I really liked working at Burrows House. There were a lot of similarities amongst a few differences in the way people carry out their work. The thing that surprised me the most was that carers work 12 hours a day in the UK whilst in Belgium it is only 8 hours.
The best thing that happened to me during my stay in London were the friends I made. I'm really lucky to have met them and I miss them dearly. This whole experience was golden and I advise people to take this chance when offered. Its was really exciting and fun!
A special thanks to ADC College but also to Simon, Lea, Veronica, Aylin and Christie.
