As Spring draws to a close and the 21st June will mark the official start of a long awaited Summer I can’t help but get excited! Not just about the change in seasons but also about all the great events London has to offer at this time of the year.

If you’re lucky enough to be a student who’s in London for your internship programme or a group leader who’s accommodating their students, don’t miss out on experiencing all the Royal Summer flair you can get. As always there’s just too many amazing things to see and do here so I’ve chosen 3 of the best June events to get you started. As a little Bonus, you will find several links incorporated offering you even more detailed information on some of the happenings described.

  1. Trooping the Colour: The Queen’s Birthday Parade

Trooping the Colour marks the Queen’s official Birthday on Saturday the 8th June 2019 and is naturally the most popular event. Celebrated and accompanied by hundreds of Household Division officers, horses and musicians, the Queen will make her way from Buckingham Palace at 10am, along The Mall to Horse Guards Parade, a parade ground near Whitehall used for royal parades and ceremonies. Of course she’s not going to walk it. Instead she will be travelling in her Royal horse carriage which is surprisingly modest looking.

Upon arrival at the Horse Guards Parade she carries out an inspection of her troops before heading back to Buckingham Palace where The Salute takes place. Last but not least there will be a Royal Air Force flypast at 1pm.

2. Taste of London Food Festival in Regent's Park

Do you remember our student of the month Matilda Pylkkö who’s interview we published on the 13th February 2019? Matilda was the inspiring, trainee chef who got to spend 3 weeks at Michelin star Restaurant Club Gascon. This year the team from Club Gascon will be at the Taste of London festival amongst other great names like Chotto Matte, Flesh & Buns, Hoppers, Mango Tree, Sartoria and Trishna. This event is a real treat for anyone with a culinary background as well as all the “foodies” out there. From 19th to 23rd June you will get the unique chance to inspect and sample some of the best dishes from over 40 of London’s best restaurants, all coming together in Regent’s Park.
