Nicolas was placed at Winmark Ltd. a niche company in London that specialises in empowering business leaders across industries to transform their business environment. They are experts in their field with many years of experience, something Nicolas was not expected to have when he started his internship there. Regardless, Nicolas managed to leave a remarkable impression with the staff of Winmark Ltd. which earned him the title of “Student of the month”. All because he applied himself with a positive, friendly attitude and always gave his best whatever task he was given.
Tell me a little bit about yourself
I’ve always been interested in economics and after tenth grade I decided to go to the vocational trainings college for business administration and economics in Bonn, Germany.
What was the best moment of your trip?
The best moment of my stay in London was when some friends and I went to a champions league match at Wembley Stadium. We saw team Tottenham Hotspurs play against Inter Milan. That was definitely really impressive to be in such a historic stadium.
What was it like at Winmark Ltd.?
Winmark Ltd. is a great company. The colleagues are all nice and friendly. The work they do is really interesting but too complex to explain here in just a few words.
What were your tasks?
After Winmark started to change their databases about their hosted meetings, my task was to compare and check all the information and if necessary correct or add missing details. I also wrote an article based on information I got from my boss on what PA’s think that their bosses should change in behaviour towards them.
Winmark Ltd went out of their way to tell us how extremely happy they were to have had you working with them. You left an amazing impression with all their departments. How do you think you achieved that?
I think I left a good impression because I was always polite and friendly, but mainly I put effort into helping the company as far as I could.
What have you learnt from the trip?
This experience opened my eyes about the British culture and I learned how it is to work in a foreign country. I also got my English skills up on a higher level. The stay as a whole was a great experience, to be with friends in an amazing city like London and explore it.
How has this experience inspired you?
After school I plan on doing my vocational training and maybe even go to work abroad because of the great experience I had in London.
What would your advice be for students who are about to go on the Internship Programme?
My advice for students who want to go on the Internship Programme would be to just be open for new impressions and be industrious at the work placement.
