Crossing the language barrier is one of the biggest fears among our students. It is normal to feel nervous ahead of the Dublin Internship Programme and most of the time, students get used to speaking English after a few days. But there are ways you can prepare for your trip to Ireland and get used to the Irish accent. Immersing yourself in Irish culture by reading books, watching films with English subtitles or listening to music are three great ways to freshen up on your skills.

The Irish music scene has deep roots in the folk music tradition, as demonstrated by bands like The Dubliners and Thin Lizzy, as well as rock and punk. As part of our British and Irish culture series, we put together a list of songs that will inspire students before their big journey. Everything from Enya and Christy Moore to the more modern R&B sound of Soulé.
