Adriána Gazdíková is a Slovak student who took part in the Internship Programme about a year and a half ago, interning in the marketing department of ADC College. We were curious to find out what she has been up to since then. Did her Erasmus+ journey influence her life in any way? What did the experience teach her? We reached out to the 20-year-old to see where her passion for marketing has taken her.
My name is Adriana and I am a student of Copenhagen Business Academy. I have been living in Denmark for a year now. I love being here, the people I have gotten to know as well as studying English. It was always my goal to study in English, because I was in the bilingual section in high school and now I am following my dream!
When I left London, I felt more confident with my English and I was proud that I was able to communicate fluently. Since that time, my English is improving all the time. It was not as good as now but I have started to understand more and more. The internship also helped me better to integrate with people from different cultures. My experience in London showed me that I didn't need to worry about moving to the foreign country and that I can survive without my parents and live independently. After the work experience in London I graduated with excellent grades in high school, which I was very happy about.
My work experience at ADC College also helped me choose what direction I should take. Now I am studying Marketing Management and I really love it. I do understand it more now and I am very thankful that I could experience doing market research for ADC College.
In the future, I can see myself working in an international company back home in Slovakia, because I want to live in my home town in the future. The marketing industry in Slovakia is not very big, so it is a good opportunity for me. If I had a chance to work in London again, I would definitely love to because I had an amazing time there with ADC College.
What I would like to say to other students considering whether to go on work experience abroad is: you should definitely go! Not only will you improve your language skills, but you will also learn how to go out of your comfort zone, be independent and gain knowledge of other cultures. I wish I had a chance to stay longer in London because it was lovely. Thank you for the opportunity you gave me.
