The skills and ingenuity of our students never cease to surprise us. A couple of weeks ago, a group of beauty and hairdressing professionals from Sweden proposed to give our office a Christmas makeover! The girls transformed our meeting room into a beauty parlour for the day and it was remarkable to see their creative holiday-inspired ideas come alive as they worked together as a tightly knit team. Our Czech and Slovak Country Manager, and model for the day, Maya Machova, said "I felt so pampered and beautiful. The girls were so lovely and professional. I even got some tips on how to style those gorgeous curls!"
The group is just about to graduate from their vocational studies at Dragonskolan in the north of Sweden and we were more than happy to have them with us on the Internship Programme. Apart from giving the office a glittering makeover, the six women did a couple of weeks of work experience in hair dressers and beauty parlours around London. Check out the different looks below and how to copy the hair and makeup at home (ideas and text by the students themselves). Merry Christmas!
Maya: The Swedish St. Lucia look
The Lucia look is inspired by the Swedish tradition of St. Lucia. The Lucia ceremony in Sweden falls on the 13th of December and is celebrated with carol singing and a Lucia parade, where a woman with candles in her hair, representing Lucia, leads a white-clad entourage of people. We have updated the traditional style of the Lucia and given her a more modern look; the makeup is quite simple with glitter eyeshadow and red lips. The hair is made up of loose curls with a glitter crown on the top of the head.
Sabina: The Christmas look
The Christmas look on Sabina is inspired by Christmas parties. We have chosen a simple look made up of subtle makeup and red lips. The hair is styled with loose curls and two braids on either side of the head. The hair is also decorated with two red Christmas baubles.
Filippa: The New Year look
The new year look is inspired by new year’s eve parties. We have chosen a radical look for this new year’s eve party, with green eyeshadow and beautiful big lashes. We have also put together a golden party necklace that matches the rest of the look. The hair is quite simple, with nice curls and a sun feather of bobby pins.
